Apple's iOS 11 Has A New Security Feature That Disables Touch ID

Apple is adding a new feature to the iPhone and it might add to the struggle between law enforcement and tech companies. Tapping the lock button five times to access the SOS screen or opening a Medical ID will cause the iPhone or iPad to temporarily reject all Touch ID attempts, requiring a passcode to unlock. The five-rapid-presses method doesn't just streamline that process; it also brings up the option of calling the emergency services.

iOS 11 should be released to the public sometime next month, alongside the new iPhone launch. This involved waiting days for the phone to prompt you for a passcode, if purposefully locking the phone out with a bad fingerprint, or going through the settings process of disabling it. Headline features include a redesigned user interface, an always-on display like the ones found on Android devices, a new "quick switcher" that allows users to change apps fast by swiping in from the left, and a limited guest mode to stop others from using all installed apps. Alternatively, it means turning off the phone, turning it on again and making several unsuccessful attempts to log in with Touch ID. And the latest news about the iOS 11 has surely sparked excitement among its fans.

He said the iOS 11 brought new powerful features that will make the device function better than its entire previous iPads. The latest software update might come with an option to disable this feature altogether.

Another two senators, Matt Canavan and Malcolm Roberts , will also have their eligibility decided by the High Court. Australia's opposition has mocked Ms Bishop's claims, accusing her of a "Kiwis under the bed scare campaign".

Well, while law enforcement may be able to get you to unlock your smartphone with your finger, problems will likely arise if you have a password-locked phone. This will help unlock the phone without the need of the fingerprint identity.

With the upcoming "Face ID" in iPhone 8, you can see how the same behavior defends against unconscious unlocks with face biometrics too. This notably happened in Los Angeles in April 2016, when a court granted a search warrant forcing an alleged gang member's girlfriend to unlock her phone in this way.
