Trans Mountain pipeline protest greets Trudeau in London

The comments come as the British Columbia (B.C.) government pledged to file a legal challenge by month-end to determine whether it has the jurisdiction to stop the C$7.4 billion ($5.9 billion) project, which was approved by the federal government in 2016 and would almost triple capacity on the pipeline from Alberta to a Vancouver-area port.

"I think you can expect if the Trans Mountain pipeline does not go ahead (Kinder Morgan) will be bidders for various assets here in Canada, and probably fairly quickly as well", he said.

Premier Scott Moe says Saskatchewan will join Alberta in a fight with B.C. over the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion by introducing its own legislation on oil exports.

"I'm pretty confident that this is going to get done".

Joel Bakan, a professor at UBC's law school, told CTV News Tuesday that although the pipeline is a federal undertaking, the Supreme Court of Canada has said there's still space for robust provincial regulations.

On Wednesday, Greenpeace activists unveiled anti-oil banners with the words "Crudeau oil" at the entrance to the Canadian High Commission in Trafalgar Square in London, and built a mock pipeline. While 49 per cent of Canadians supported the pipeline back in February, 55 per cent of them are now in favour of the Kinder Morgan project. The company announced it would be halting non essential spending on its operations until May 31st. "No doubt there would be some price increase at the B.C. pumps, but after flows adjust seven weeks later, it would be measured in the $3-$10 per barrel range (likely less than a dime per litre)".

"This crucial resource project will expand export markets for Canadian resources and create thousands of good, middle-class jobs and no one should be standing in the way of those jobs and the families that stand to benefit", Carr said in a statement.

Manchester City's Aguero out of Tottenham clash
Hopefully (he will be back) for the last games, if we need him, and especially for the World Cup ". So, we have to do it, like we have all season".

"That's something that we would look at very closely, and if not mirroring (Alberta's bill) being something similar".

The battle has pitted environmentalists, some B.C city mayors, some aboriginal groups and the B.C government against Kinder Morgan, some aboriginal groups, the Alberta government and recently the federal government. "As our prime minister has said, this pipeline will be built", Carr said.

"The federal government, along with the government of Alberta, has commenced discussions with Kinder Morgan to establish a financial relationship that will eliminate investor risk", Notley said on Sunday. It's a case that hopes to answer the constitutional question that's at the root of the current Alberta and B.C. pipeline deadlock.

The BC government recently proposed a measure to make it more hard to transport oil through the province, and mayors, federal parliament members and other officials across BC have also voiced their unequivocal opposition to the pipeline.

She went on to accuse the prime minister of "risking the health of Canada's rivers and coast, the water supply, and livelihoods of many indigenous people, and undermining the credibility of the Paris climate agreement, all to keep some struggling oil companies in profit".

The company said while it is not in a position to move on takeovers until the uncertainty around Trans Mountain is resolved, it sees good opportunities in the western Canadian midstream space.
