Arsenal departure 'not my decision', reveals Arsene Wenger

The north London outfit are in the Europa League semi-finals, where they will face Atletico Madrid over two legs, and should they lift the trophy they will also secure a Champions League spot for next season. There will be at the very least a different mood about the Emirates next season.

The club announced last Friday that Wenger will step down in the summer after over 21 years at the helm - with the Frenchman also confirming he intends to continue working following his exit. Maybe when you have a big ego at 40, you think the world can not live without you.

"I hope these are not my last European cup games - my target is to play in Europe again", Wenger said, as quoted on FourFourTwo.

The Gunners initially issued a statement explaining that when Wenger said earlier in the day that the timing had not been his, he was talking about when the departure was announced and not saying he had been forced out. But, at the moment, I work like ever.

"I have always had great admiration for Arsene", Gunners supporter Hamilton told reporters.

Napoli down Juventus to keep title hopes alive
The Serie A leaders suffered a blow after just 11 minutes this week when Giorgio Chiellini was forced off with injury. Napoli also went close early through Marek Hamsik before Lorenzo Insigne had a goal disallowed for offside.

The Reds have won 26 of our matches against Wenger's Arsenal, drawing 15 and losing 18. That is better still. "A touch easier. There was a lot of pressure on David Moyes going in at United and he didn't get a chance, I suppose enough time, particularly with the recruitment side of things".

"Somebody like Luis Enrique, who has got the experience of managing a big club like Barcelona coming in and putting his stamp on the club could be good, but there's no one stand-out candidate for me". While there may be many Gunners fans who regret some of the vitriol that has been aimed at the legendary Frenchman, few could argue that the club hasn't been heading the wrong way.

"No, it's not odd to me - I can understand that", he said. Winning the competition is a way back into the Champions League next season.

Former-Chelsea man Diego Costa has been the scourge of Arsene Wenger's side in past meetings and is in contention to start at the Emirates.

Wenger said after Sunday's 4-1 win over West Ham that he is "too attached" to Arsenal to think about going anywhere else - but changed that stance when questioned about it on Wednesday.
