Telstra triple zero outage caused by fibre fire damage

"There are still intermittent interruptions to 000 calls in NSW, VIC and WA following the cable cut in NSW earlier today", Telstra said in a statement.

The telco has posted a picture on Twitter of the charred pit, where crews are now working to restore service, saying it showed "significant fire damage consistent with lightning strike".

"We're working closely with emergency services in those States", Telstra tweeted at 6.35am.

Phone systems are also being impacted, with landline and mobile services impacted.

Telstra released an update claiming: "The restoration of the cable in NSW has been completed".

"We are trying to call back all Vodafone customers who have attempted to call triple zero to check on their welfare and offer assistance".

Telstra has confirmed that it is now undertaking fibre repairs near Orange, New South Wales, to bring Triple Zero emergency services back up.

The company was forced to issue an apology on Tuesday after an outage to the 4G network left customers unable to make or receive calls.

In Western Australia, St John's Ambulance callers were having to try two to three times before getting through.
