K'taka polls: Continuing his trips to religious shrines, Rahul visits Gurudwara

BJP President Amit Shah here on Friday declared that the Congress will not be able to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

Addressing a rally in Gadag later on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of being corrupt. "Why are you hiding this?"

He said that the state was a "fortress" of the BJP where the party's government and organisation had stood their ground, claiming that his party would win in 2018 as well as 2023. He too had alleged that the JD (S) had a "tacit understanding" with the BJP, and was backing it in the elections.

Referring to the recent attack on the Karnataka Lokayukta in Bengaluru and a senior police officer's letter to the Chief Secretary on working conditions, the BJP leader said intolerance, violence, and rapes were the identities of the Congress. But in no time Modi disowned JD (S) asking people not to waste their votes, even as Gowda emphasised that personal regard did not mitigate his political differences with Modi.

Reminding the people about the coalition between the Congress and JD (S) during Bengaluru's mayoral poll past year, the PM alleged a "tacit alliance" between the two parties.

The video had photographs of Modi and other BJP leaders with the party's election candidates, including former ministers on whom cases of corruption have registered.

Britain's Sainsbury's to buy supermarket chain Asda from Walmart for $10.1 billion
The Labour Party's business spokeswoman, Rebecca Long-Bailey, has already called for an investigation of the proposed deal. Asda has a strong presence in the north of England and Sainsbury's in the south. "We think it is a great deal all around".

Karnataka goes to the polls on May 12.

The Karnataka government is a "gold medalist" in corruption and Congress leaders are "drunk on power", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Bengaluru. The Congress has ruled for so long and that too by one family has done nothing for the farmers.

"For years, Cong kept saying "Gareeb, Gareeb, Gareeb.' However, nothing came out of this rhetoric. What is the deal between these two parties?" he questioned". "Those who did not know whether the groundnuts bear fruits under the ground or above talk about the uplifting the farmers", he indirectly chided the AICC president Rahul Gandhi. They should stop making fool out of people of Tumkur and Karnataka, says Modi in Tumkur.

He said the Congress government would also set up food processing plants to add value to agricultural products and benefit farmers.

He alleged the Congress was responsible for the backwardness of Tumakuru.

Mr. Modi said that his government had come out with a new textile policy earmarking Rs. 6,000 crore and wanted entrepreneurs in Ballari and surrounding areas to make use of it.
