Man United star set to hold talks with Arsenal about controversial transfer

French media outlet Foot Mercato, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Gunners will meet with the Belgium international's representatives this week to discuss a potential transfer.

French TV show Foot 365 have stated talks will soon be opened with the giant player - who headed in an injury time victor during April's previous meeting between the Red Devils and Gunners.

Fellaini, 30, is out of contract at United and despite attempts by Old Trafford officials to convince the Belgian global to sign a new deal, he has preferred to keep his options open as he prepares to become a free agent this summer.

The Belgium worldwide is out of contract at the end of June and would be able to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer.

Harvey Weinstein hit with new accusations of sexual assault
He has pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and criminal sexual acts in NY , and faces up to 25 years in prison on those charges. The producer has largely retreated from the public eye since the allegations were made but has denied numerous claims.

With the squad in need of an overhaul but also with funds limited, Fellaini's availability on a free transfer is a strong motivator in Arsenal's interest in the former Everton man (as is the case with Juventus full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner).

United boss Jose Mourinho has stressed for much of the last year that he is keen to keep Fellaini at the club - but he started just two league games since the turn of the year.

The 30 year old Belgian has proven to be a useful player to have amongst the ranks, but the Brazilian Fred's arrival at Old Trafford will mean he's pushed further down the pecking order or surplus to requirements.
