Israeli Police Arrest Ahed Tamimi Mural Artist Agostino Chirwin

Much of the worldwide community considers Tamimi's grounds for arrest a grossly unfair case.

It would have been interesting to watch the outcome of Tamimi's "brave" attack had her subject been a Syrian, Iraqi, or even Hamas or Palestinian Authority soldier.

But for Israelis, Tamimi is being used by her activist family as a pawn in staged provocations.

On Thursday, Israeli occupation forces barred residents from entering and exiting Nabi Saleh, where Ahed lives with her family, ahead of her scheduled release. Which means that she will probably be at it again soon - at least as long as she hasn't hit age 18.

A Palestinian teenager jailed for slapping and kicking Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank has been freed.

While she was in prison, Ahed Tamimi's lawyer reportedly filed a complaint accusing the 17-year-old's interrogators of sexual harassment. She was 16 at the time.

For Palestinians she is a hero, jailed for standing up to soldiers occupying her land and intruding upon her family home.

The others killed were pro-government fighters or residents who had taken up arms to defend their villages. More airstrikes against ISIS-held towns were reported after this attack.

There had been slight tension at the checkpoint before Tamimi's arrival as a few men with Israeli flags approached supporters holding a Palestinian flags. Israel has treated her actions as a criminal offence, indicting her on charges of assault and incitement. "All the female prisoners in jail are strong, and I thank everyone who stood by me while I was in prison".

Her mother filmed the incident and posted it on Facebook, where it went viral and instantly turned her for many into symbol of resistance to Israel's half-century-old military rule over the Palestinians.

Tamimi's case drew global attention and Amnesty International said after her conviction that her sentence was at odds with international law. According to statistics released by Israeli rights group B'Tselem earlier this month, 291 Palestinian minors were held in Israeli prisons as security detainees and prisoners.

"Ahed Tamimi's release must not obscure the familiar and continuing story of the Israeli military using discriminatory policies to lock up Palestinian children", said Higazi, who described her arrest as "a blatant attempt by the Israeli authorities to intimidate those who dare to challenge the ongoing brutal repression by occupying forces".

Her father Bassem put his arms around the two of them as they walked together along the road, the crowd chanting "we want to live in freedom".

They are being transferred by the army to the Palestinians territories.
