Sadio Mané helps Liverpool sink Manchester City as Tottenham thrash Roma

May JohnsonJul 29, 2018

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were both on target in their pre-season return as Liverpool fought back for a 2-1 win over Man City on Thursday.

Salah came off the bench and cancelled out Leroy Sane's opener in the 63rd minute and he hit the crossbar shortly after, before Sadio Mane converted a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Salah scored the equaliser, with Sadio Mane scoring the 2-1 victor from a penalty in the 94th minute.

Pep Guardiola revealed he plans to bring in one more player during this transfer window while insisting footballing ability isn't the only thing he looks for in new recruits.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva says his current contract, which runs until 2020, could be his last at the Premier League champions and has ruled out a future move to any rival club in England.

The Premier League champions are now without a host of first team players, such as Vincent Kompany, Fabian Delph, John Stones, Gabriel Jesus, Kun Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne, as they are still on holiday following their exploits in Russian Federation.

The Manchester City boss responded when asked about Liverpool's lavish summer spending. "And that's why I'm so happy here".

Silva also made a point that he couldn't play for another English side.

Pep Guardiola's side had started the game the stronger despite still missing 15 of the 16 players involved in the World Cup, and they took every opportunity to test Liverpool keeper Lorus Karius, who still looked short of confidence after his costly Champions League errors.

DOJ: Maria Butina traded sex for favors to infiltrate NRA, DC circles
Driscoll repeatedly argued that Butina is not a flight risk and has cooperated with the government. He also urged that the case should not be tried in the context of current US-Russian relations.

However, Salah - the reigning Premier League Golden Boot victor and Player of the Year - showed no signs of discomfort after scoring within a minute of his introduction. "You just don't expect to see your baby fighting for his life", said Silva.

"This season it's going to be hard because Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea have reinforced their squads, spent a lot of money, and have very good players".

"We are going to adapt, it's a simple as that".

"Of course they now need a break to recover and be fresh for the new season".

On the possibility of making further summer signings, the Spaniard added: "We will see".

"We don't think about that, we just try to make the best of it".

"We analysed our mistakes from the previous games and we played a lot better today".
