President Trump Issues Statement Ahead of Deadly Charlottesville Anniversary

The event is scheduled to wrap up by about 7:30 p.m. ET.

This week, NFL players in the first preseason games resumed their protests over police brutality against blacks by raising their fists, kneeling or sitting out during the National Anthem.

Counter-protesters turned out to demonstrate against the rally. She recognized the other victims of the attack, which injured dozens of people, and thanked the two Virginia state troopers killed in a helicopter crash for their sacrifice.

The tweets come on the anniversary of deadly unrest triggered by a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

What are police doing about security?

The city says law enforcement at the access points are conducting consensual checks for objects that were banned as a security measure during the weekend anniversary of last summer's violence.

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, and city officials in Charlottesville announced a state of emergency would be in effect Friday through Sunday in that city and parts of Northern Virginia, outside Washington.
