On Friday the company announced that chief accounting officer Dave Morton had resigned after a month, citing public attention and the fast pace of the post.

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has smoked marijuana live on the web during a podcast with comedian Joe Rogan.

One of Wall Street's prominent short sellers, Andrew Left, has filed a class-action lawsuit, accusing electric vehicle maker Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk of trying to "burn" investors with "objectively false tweets".

Musk stunned investors a month back with tweets saying he had funding to take the company private for $420 per share. He took one drag from what Rogan described as a joint containing tobacco mixed with marijuana, which is legal in California.

CAO David Morton joined the team August 6 and provided notice of his immediate resignation September 4, according to a company 8-K filing. "I don't actually notice any effect". For a Factbox on executive departures, see: Even before Musk's surprise August 7 Twitter disclosure that he had funding "secured" for a go-private deal, Tesla had been under scrutiny from investors, analysts and short-sellers as it works to hit production targets and slow its cash burn. "I don't find that it is very good for productivity".

"I want to be clear that I believe strongly in Tesla, its mission and its future prospects, and I have no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or its financial reporting", Morton wrote in his statement today.

Authorities identify mystery woman in doorbell video
The woman seen in the video over the weekend, whose identity deputies say has been confirmed, was not on scene when they arrived. The clip cuts out as she reaches for a door handle and it later emerged that she went on to ring other doorbells on the street.

Musk apologised to Unsworth in July for similar insults he made on Twitter following the rescue of a dozen Thai schoolboys and their football coach from a cave in Thailand.

"We have been calling for a co-CEO or COO to assist to codifying the leadership structure and in so doing, the culture at Tesla", said James Albertine, analyst at brokerage Consumer Edge, speaking before the promotions were announced.

Tesla's stock dropped 6 percent in Friday's pre-market session, trading around $263.55 at time of publication.

"We think this is further evidence that the time is now for management and the board to address these issues".

Tesla said cash from Model 3 sales will pay the bills and drive profits.

The announcement sent Tesla stock surging by more than 10 percent.
