Emery swerves questions over Ramsey's future at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has reportedly urged the club to go all out to sign Ever Banega from Sevilla to compensate for the impending loss of Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey, who is presently Arsenal's longest-serving player, spoke optimistically about the Gunners' future when asked about the arrival of new coach Unai Emery during the summer: "I think it's an exciting time for the club".

Other leading clubs will be alerted by the news - Chelsea were previously interested - and a player who was named in the team of the tournament at Euro 2016 will also attract interest in Europe.

The Wales worldwide, who scored match-winning goals in both the 2014 and 2017 FA Cup finals, has started five of the Gunners' six Premier League games so far this season.

If no agreement is reached with Ramsey over the coming weeks then Arsenal may try and cash-in this winter rather than lose him for nothing but the likes of United and Chelsea may opt to wait until the summer to snap him up for free. But Emery also appeared to suggest he understood every player had to maximise his earning potential during what is a short career.

The renewal of Mesut Ozil's contract and the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on high salaries have sent the club's wage bill to record levels. I want to give them the most stability to show us they can be focused on the performance only and to show us with each match.

It has been a major U-turn on the club's part as Ramsey has been keen to stay and he was being touted as a future Arsenal captain.

'In the football years I know the same situation. "They are professionals for 10, 12 or 15 years, but not more".

Will they pay a fee in January or play the waiting game and leave Arsenal penniless come the end of the season.
