US Senate to vote on Trump's Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh

The result means the Senate is poised to decide his fate in a high-stakes Saturday vote. Among them was Sen.

Maine's other senator, independent Angus King, reiterated on Thursday that he's voting against Kavanaugh.

Joe Manchin. Facing a re-election vote in November in the pro-Trump state of West Virginia, he said on Friday he supported Flake's call to delay voting so the FBI could investigate.

On the Democrat side, Sen. It ended with this line: "The Supplemental Background Investigation confirms what the Senate Judiciary Committee concluded after its investigation: there is no corroboration of the allegations made by Dr. [Christine Blasey Ford] Ford or Ms. [Deborah] Ramirez".

"Members of both parties, as well as a handful of staff, are expected to alternate hour-long viewing time slots, a Democratic aide said". Without evidence, he alleged the protesters, several of whom said they have been sexual assault victims were "paid by [financier George] Soros and others". Stevens said he had praised Kavanaugh in previous years and thought he was qualified for the court, the newspaper said. He says what they did to sully Kavanaugh's reputation was "nothing short of monstrous".

Confirmation would be a crowning achievement for Trump, his conservative base and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

Judiciary Chairman Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, delivered a passionate floor speech Friday morning saying "nothing" would have prevented Democrats from instituting "mob rule" by protesters before voting against Kavanaugh.

Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh speaks at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, on Capitol Hill in Washington on September 27, 2018. "I might have been too emotional at times. I know that my tone was sharp, and I said a few things I should not have said", Kavanaugh wrote.

Kavanaugh said he has never been as emotional as he was during the hearing.

Flake announced that he would vote "yes" unless something big changed.

Pressure has been especially intense on three Republican senators, Collins, Sen.

Warning lifted just before tsunami strikes Indonesian village
He said the fate of "tens to hundreds" of people involved in a beach festival in Palu when the tsunami struck was unknown. Supoto said there was "much damage " in the Donggala area - home to about 300,000 people - where the first quake hit.

Another undecided Republican, Senator Lisa Murkowski, did not offer her view on the Federal Bureau of Investigation report. "If I need to be in two places at once to walk my daughter down the aisle on her wedding day and to be the final vote to put Judge Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, he's offered me use of his plane", Daines said in a statement to Fox News Friday.

"More baseless innuendo and more false smears from Senate Democrats", committee Republicans said on Twitter. It will indicate how senators, including key undecided figures, stand on the nominee after a series of sexual-misconduct allegations were made against him.

Democrats saw something very different in the report.

However, senior Democrats attacked the process, calling the investigation "incomplete" and accusing the White House of limiting its scope. Ford alleged that while they were in high school, a drunken Kavanaugh pinned her down at a party and attempted to remove her clothes, covering her mouth when she tried to scream.

The FBI also interviewed Christopher "Squi" Garrett, another classmate of Kavanaugh's who appeared on the July 1 calendar entry.

One is Mark Judge, who the professor says was in the room when Kavanaugh lay on top of her, ground his body against hers and covered her mouth to keep her from screaming.

Similar concerns moved Sen. If she opposes Kavanaugh, she risks alienating conservative voters who support him. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, another red state Democrat, has not yet said how he will vote. Kavanaugh has denied the accusations.

Her opposition leaves Sen.

There does remain some suspense about the timing of the final vote. He is also in a tough re-election campaign and was silent on Kavanaugh in the days leading up to the vote.

The nominee's conduct during the hearing caught the attention of many, who cited his temperament as another reason to vote "no" on his confirmation.
