Chances growing of Brexit deal: EU’s Juncker

April FrancisOct 07, 2018

Brexit talks are entering a frenzied fortnight created to produce an European Union divorce deal with Britain and a blueprint for future ties.

European Union diplomats and officials have also said they have not seen any formal new written text from London.

"The creation of Citibank UK Limited will enable us to continue to service our Citigold and other UK consumer clients in the full range of post-Brexit legal and regulatory scenarios", a Citi spokeswoman told Reuters.

"The Soviet Union was about prisons and gulags, borders and walls, violence against citizens and neighbours".

European Council President Donald Tusk said that such an arrangement would be "much further reaching on trade, internal security and foreign policy cooperation".

"I think in the next 10 days if there is a proposal, obviously on its own it won't resolve the border issue, but certainty if something is legally sound and workable, I do believe that the (EU's Brexit) taskforce will work with Prime Minister May".

He said: "If she is rolling back on her pledge that there will be no barriers between Northern Ireland and Great Britain, then the Prime Minister should be under no illusions; we will vote against her deal and it will go nowhere".

First of all, we want to focus on practical and realistic ways of minimising the damage caused by Brexit, on both sides of the channel.

Pence attacks China on 'predatory' trade, 'coercion' and military 'aggression'
If the tariff-for-tariff tradeoff between the United States and China resembles a mere scuffle, multinational investment bank J.P. Mexico's exports to the U.S. were 28 per cent of its gross domestic product a year ago while Canada's were 19 per cent of GDP.

"This would unite the Conservative Party, be a good deal for the country, deliver on Brexit and it is really hard to see why the Government is not embracing this", Rees-Mogg said.

The Irish leader was speaking to journalists in between a series of meetings with European Union leaders in Brussels, as exit talks enter a critical fortnight before the make-or-break October summit.

The British government is expected to table new proposals in an attempt to break the impasse over the Irish border, but a role for the devolved assembly remains unclear.

"He wants to tear up our guarantee to the people of Northern Ireland", she said.

The Prime Minister is planning to keep Britain tied to European customs rules on goods beyond the scheduled leaving date of March 2019, according to the Times.

He also warned that it could take longer than the length of the post-Brexit transition period, due to run to 31 December 2020, to agree on a final EU-UK trade deal.

Mr Varadkar has also been meeting with the EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier and the chair of the European Parliament's Brexit Steering Group, Guy Verhofstadt.

"We are in the art of the possible here, and from what I see in government, I think that we will get a deal, be it in October or November at the two consecutive summits", he said.
