Tesla says has not received subpoena on Model 3 production

Back when first Model 3s rolled off the production line in July 2017, however, Musk was talking big goals - and it's those stated targets that are now getting the Feds' attention.

Tesla first disclosed in September that the DoJ was investigating Musk's tweets about having "funding secured" for a deal to take Tesla private, saying the agency had asked for documents about such statements.

Model 3 is a key part of Tesla's plan to expand from a niche player in the segment of luxury to the automaker with a wider range of consumers.

"Without the upgraded wheels and tires, the Model 3 Performance felt awkward and, really, a little scary on a twisty mountain road", he noted.

Interlocutors of the edition of The Wall Street Journal said that in early 2017, Tesla could provide investors with false information about the volume of their production sedans. It fell far short, making just 793 in the last week and 2,700 for all of 2017. It didn't hit that level of production until the end of June 2018.

Tesla reached its 5,000-per-week goal for the Model 3 sedan, its most affordable "mass-market" vehicle, in summer, producing 5,031 units in the last week of June.

The New York Times states that Tesla has released a statement on the WSJ story claiming that it has only received a voluntary request for documents.

Asked his reaction to seeing Bowers in person, Pushinsky said it was "not the face of villainy I thought we would see". Two days earlier, the user had criticised President Donald Trump for being a "globalist, not a nationalist".

To date, Australian Tesla staff have only been able to tell The Driven that a ballpark arrival date for the Model 3 in Australia would be after right hand drive production starts mid next year.

The US Justice Department's investigation into whether he and Tesla misled investors about production of its Model 3 vehicle is "total bs", he said.

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said the tweet that cost him and the company $20 million in fines each by the US Securities and Exchange Commision was "Worth It".

"So we've made significant progress on the Model Y", Musk said.

According to the WSJ's report, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have been reaching out to former Tesla employees to get them to testify if a criminal case goes to court. After burning through cash for years on end, Tesla finally managed to defy the odds and actually turn a profit last quarter.

In a conference call with analysts late Wednesday, Musk predicted Tesla would remain profitable from this point onward.
