Whitaker was campaign chairman for Mueller witness

Whitaker, a chief of staff for former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, took power as acting attorney general on Wednesday, which included special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

In an effort to keep the investigation independent, demonstrators around the country began protesting Thursday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. local time.

In a tweet, the President announced that Sessions' Chief of Staff would take his place in the interim.

Napolitano said Whitaker, however, is not legally qualified for the role of acting attorney general because of "very precise laws" written by Congress in the wake of the Watergate scandal.

"If you don't know Matthew Whitaker, he's a political hack who has spoken in great detail about ways to hurt the Mueller investigation", the Indivisible statement said. "If you have somebody that you trust that is saying you need to meet with this individual because they have information about her, you would take that meeting". "We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well!"

Other critics have slammed Trump's decision to appoint Whitaker as acting attorney general over Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein because the move puts Whitaker in charge of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe, which Whitaker had been publicly critical of.

Wayne Rooney to make England comeback
Rooney has been a success since he moved to the U.S. to play for DC United, leading them to the MLS play-offs. Trying to help others is a particular focus of mine now through my foundation.

On Thursday, Toomey said he knew Sessions to be "a very good man", but that the attorney general has to have the full confidence of the president. "It is imperative that the important work of the Justice Department continues, and that the Mueller investigation proceeds to its conclusion unimpeded".

"It's not going to come up because it isn't necessary", the Kentucky Republican told reporters.

And so, when Robert Mueller, the special counsel, was later appointed to lead the Russian Federation probe, oversight of that investigation fell to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

"I think there are people who are hungry to show they are scared for their country", "It's one day after the election, we're all exhausted ... and I don't think the timing of the announcement from the (Trump) administration is an accident".

"At your request, I am submitting my resignation", Sessions said in the first line of a letter released by the Department of Justice. Other Senate-confirmed Department of Justice officials were available for the position, but Trump still went forward and tapped Whitaker.

About 400 convened Thursday along the Riverwalk in Naperville to rally in support of the continuation of the probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. He called Trump's recent actions "a rerun of the 'Saturday Night Massacre, ' " a reference to the October 20, 1973 resignations of the attorney general and deputy attorney general after each refused an order by President Richard Nixon to fire Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox.
