Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Quotes 'Watchmen' on Twitter

One House member who is trying to mentor Ocasio-Cortez on how to get along and get ahead in Washington is Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-NY), according to Politico.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez' congressional campaign was fined $1,500 for not having workers' compensation coverage for one month previous year, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

Recently Ocasio-Cortez told Politico that she wasn't interested in backing progressive candidates against incumbent Democrats, insisting that she's "focused on my job".

"I'm sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there's nearly an outstanding rule: Don't attack your own people", veteran Missouri Rep. Emanuel Cleaver said. The former vice-presidential nominee, who retired in 2013 after being a US Senator for 24 years, insisted that the Democrats will only be losing public support if they adopt, what he called, her "left-left" views as their own.

"She needs to decide: Does she want to be an effective legislator or just continue being a Twitter star?" an anonymous House Democrat said.

West alarmed by shock Congo poll result
Fayulu, however, is backed by ex-rebel Jean-Pierre Bemba and former governor Moise Katumbi , two of Kabila's fiercest rivals. The mineral-rich country has never had a peaceful transition of power since it gained independence from Belgium in 1960.

The New York State Workers' Compensation Board's website also shows that Ocasio-Cortez's campaign carried two other comp policies with the State Insurance Fund.

House Democrats were also annoyed that Ocasio-Cortez sought a seat on the powerful Ways and Means Committee - on which veteran lawmakers typically serve - with a grassroots campaign to pressure Speaker Nancy Pelosi to add her to the panel, Politico reported, adding that Ocasio-Cortez's office denied being behind the effort.

"The so-called champion of workers, when given her own responsibility, is not following the law".

"I think she looks mature and they look juvenile", Walsh said. "But it's a good example of what I'm talking about, a bright shiny new object, came out of nowhere and surprised people when she beat a very experienced congressman", she told CNN in December.

The New York democratic socialist would be a thorn in the side of Wall Street, which has seen its regulatory burden lowered since Donald Trump became president.
