Rahul and Pandya ordered home by India

On an episode that aired Sunday night, Pandya and Rahul made remarks about women which were seen as "sexist and misogynistic".

Pandya has already lost a sponsor in the form of Gillete Mach 3 Start, according to a report on The Times of India.

Hardik has since issued a statement on Twitter, where he said, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way". We have suspended our association with Hardik until we decide on further course of action, " told the company spokesperson to the newspaper.

The CoA has taken on board the recommendation of the BCCI's legal team that Pandya and Rahul be suspended pending an inquiry. "If they can book tickets then tomorrow they will be leaving (for India) or latest by day after", a senior BCCI official said.

The decision to suspend the duo with immediate effect comes after Diana Edulji, member of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), advocated suspension of both the players until the quantum of sentence is announced. "You don't get carried away by a mere show's nature #WHATASHAMW".

Harbhajan also said that Pandya and Rahul's comments have put every cricketer's reputation on the line. "You are looking at women in only one angle and that is not right". Edulji didn't agree, saying that the CEO conducting the inquiry would present "bad optics", as he himself had been embroiled in a sexual harassment case. "I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful", he wrote in his response, which is in PTI's possession.

Indian cricket's governing body has ordered batsman KL Rahul and allrounder Hardik Pandya to return home after their suspensions for controversial comments about women on a TV show.

Kohli added that the two players "have understood the magnitude of what's happened".

Indian captain Virat Kohli returned to the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday - the same location where his Test team made history days earlier - to condemn the comments.
