Klopp rules out Liverpool return for Coutinho

May JohnsonJan 20, 2019

Mohamed Salah insists Liverpool need to be mentally strong after they were made to work hard for a 4-3 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Crystal Palace, who had won three of their past four league visits to Liverpool, led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Andros Townsend's goal.

Salah then extended his league-leading tally to 16 goals, gifted by a wretched error by Palace's recalled 39-year-old keeper Julian Speroni - the league's oldest participant this season - leaving Klopp to hail the Egyptian's 50-goal landmark as "an exceptional achievement from a world-class player".

Jurgen Klopp's men have a four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City and they will be aiming to put further distance between themselves and the reigning champions with a victory against the Eagles. Liverpool's attackers were drawn in and Palace got the ball past them to Patrick van Aanholt.

Their defence looked uncharacteristically leaky today against a Palace side who carved out few chances and were happy to sit back and defend for large parts. "The boys are ready to fight for all". Their front three delivered again and this could game be remembered as one of those pivotal results if Liverpool are able to win the Premier League.

Liverpool equalised 47 seconds after the interval when the ball looped high into the area where Salah skilfully converted with the outside of his left foot after Virgil van Dijk's long-range effort was blocked. Crystal Palace are now 14th in the league now but have shown tremendous resolve on several occasion under Roy Hodgson.

Rahul and Pandya ordered home by India
On an episode that aired Sunday night, Pandya and Rahul made remarks about women which were seen as "sexist and misogynistic". Pandya has already lost a sponsor in the form of Gillete Mach 3 Start, according to a report on The Times of India .

After a single goal for the visitors in the first half, six were split between the teams after the break - with the Reds ultimately triumphant by virtue of their fourth goal, Sadio Mane's curled strike.

Fabinho went down injured in the latter stages of the Palace game, in which James Milner was sent off, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez are among the players already sidelined. Lovely move. McArthur starts it off, Zaha uses his pace and cuts it back for Townsend to slot it in against the run of play.

The Egypt superstar scored twice, but there will be more debate about an incident in the first half that saw Salah go to ground in Palace's box exceptionally easily. McArthur has a go at Salah for that tumble.

The 25-year-old, signed for almost £40 million ($51 million) from Monaco, took his time to adapt to English football, something Klopp predicted would happen as far back as July when Fabinho made his pre-season debut against non-league Chester.

With his shuffle and shot - a trademark from his playbook - the Brazil global claimed the 1,000th goal scored by the Reds at Anfield since the competition's inception. Speroni deflected away a James Milner cross during that sequence.

"They have great plans that if Neymar comes on the market, which is feasible because of his own personal preference and because PSG are still subject to stringent checks on whether they have or haven't breached Financial Fair Play", he said.
