Assistant head teach, Lisa Elderfield, said: "We've just had an e-safety week which is quite helpful for us".

Northcott Community Special School took to Twitter to make parents aware of the hack.

The email from the police also highlighted concerns over the game "being used by hackers 'seeking and harvesting information".

The fifth tip urges parents to talk to children about not giving in to peer pressure and doing anything they are not comfortable with.

Tunstall Primary School in Sittingbourne and Lordswood Primary in Medway have also sent gentle reminders to parents asking that they be extra vigilant about their children's online use.

WHAT ALL PARENTS NEED TO KNOW: The disturbing viral "challenge" pops up on YouTube videos encouraging them to harm...

Glenn Close Channels Oscar Statuette in Stunning Gold Carolina Herrera Gown
But she is naive and easily fooled, even kept out of the loop - something that Colman portrays with astonishing might. Colman is brilliant as a woman who spends most of her time in a wheelchair and is often the butt of ridicule.

The police email added: 'Children are subsequently bombarded with terrifying images and messages reportedly ranging from threats and dares which encourage them to self-harm and even commit suicide'.

Cllr Rob Wood, Portsmouth City Council's cabinet member for Children's Social Care added: 'Keeping young people safe online is incredibly important, and with so many new apps and games being developed it can be hard to keep track of the content their children are accessing online. We talked to them about what to be cautious about online. Ultimately, the challenge is completed when the participant takes their own life and records it for social media.

Education safeguarding advisor for Kent County Council, Rebecca Avery, posted advice on The Education People - a trading company for the council - about the challenge. This will help your child to feel confident to come with you over distressing things they have seen online. It is believed to either be created as a scam to extract personal information or as an urban legend type hoax, and is based on a meme of a sculpture. It's believed "Momo" is run by hackers who are looking for personal information, but the risky lies in what "Momo" is asking people to do.

The first thing the NOS recommends parents do is tell the children that Momo isn't real. It's the fact that she approached me about that makes me think differently.

They issued a statement saying: "There have been recent reports that some seemingly innocent videos on YouTube and YouTube Kids (such as "surprise eggs", unboxing videos and Minecraft videos) have been edited by unknown sources to include violence provoking and/or other inappropriate content". But now, she and others want parents to be aware of what damage this challenge can do.

With that said, there's no evidence that Aisawa is in any way associated with the challenge, yet the image of her work has become a symbol of the deadly game that's spreading across the internet.
