Chicago Cops Open Probe Into Jussie Smollett Attack Case Leaks

According to TMZ on Thursday, Chicago PD's Chief of Detectives has launched an internal investigation regarding authorities who may or may not have leaked stories to the media.

Sources said those workers have been terminated after gaining access to the "Empire" actor's medical chart. However, she did concede that she and many other nurses and hospital employees were fired last week due to allegations of misconduct concerning Smollett's confidential information.

News of Smollett's appearance in next week's episode comes roughly two weeks after the 36-year-old actor was released on a $10,000 bond after being charged with filing a fake police report, a class 4 felony which carries with it a maximum penalty of three years in prison.

One of the unnamed nurses who was sacked, claims to CBS Chicago that she never herself even accessed Smollett's chart.

Robert Mueller sends Russian Federation investigation report to U.S. attorney general
It will now be up to Bill Barr, the U.S. attorney general, to decide how much of the report to release to Congress and the public. Earlier this month, the House voted unanimously for a non-binding resolution to make the report's findings public.

Smollett had gotten into hot water back on January 29, when he'd been rushed to Northwestern Hospital for treatment of wounds. CPD adds there's been a ton of "inaccurate" info in the media, and they want to know who's putting it out there.

One nurse told CBS Chicago that she was merely scrolling past Smollett's record to get to another patient's file.

She said that it all happened at the end of her shift last Tuesday, when she was called in and fired without being given a chance to say anything. He alleged that two assailants shouted homophobic and racist slurs at him, poured bleach on him, and put a noose around his neck. "They're also checking the postage stamp against the stamps found in the brothers' apartment". "The check was written to Abel on January 23, 2019, six days before the 'attack.' The memo line reads, '5 week Nutrition/Workout program Don't Go.'" "Don't Go" is a song for a music video where he would appear shirtless.

After his arrest, Smollett's legal team fiercely proclaimed his innocence, writing in a statement: "Today we witnessed an organized law enforcement spectacle that has no place in the American legal system".
