Dell Technologies Match Play: PGA Golf Pick, Odds, Preview, Predictions, Dark Horses

May JohnsonMar 30, 2019

Woods, in his first tournament appearance in Austin, at least gave his gallery something to remember when he played a stunning 60-foot recovery shot left-handed from under a bush at the 10th hole.

Aaron Wise's emphatic 6&4 win over Brandt Snedeker ensured that world number 14 Woods topped Group 13.

AUSTIN, Texas - Tiger Woods wasn't thrilled with his golf, saying his stroke-play score would have "broke 80" at Austin Country Club on Wednesday.

"It was one of those matches where we weren't playing our best and on a golf course like this, it kind of exposed us a little bit".

United States top seed Johnson, the 2017 victor who captured last month's WGC Mexico event, opened with a 4&3 win over U.S. 55th seed Chez Reavie. "It was just trying to beat the guy in front of you and I was able to advance".

Rory McIlroy had an easier time as the Players Championship victor continued his hot form to rout American Luke List 5 & 4.

Rory McIlroy made it two wins from two matches at the WGC Match Play on Thursday, partly thanks to two eagles on the back nine.

But this shot that Woods hit Thursday has to be among the best.

The Match Play began to take shape, more because of 20 players from the 64-man field mathematically eliminated than who can still reach the weekend.

OR vs. Wisconsin - 3/22/19 NCAA March Madness Pick, Odds, and Prediction
Sabally collected 14 points and six rebounds in the first half as OR built a 43-23 lead by the break. OR will take on UC Irvine, who knocked off Kansas State to secure a spot in the Round of 32.

Rory McIlroy is well placed to make it into the last 16 at the WGC Match Play.

- Sergio Garcia lost his match to Patrick Reed and still advanced.

Going into Day 2, I've got three 'dogs I'm looking at in individual matches - plus one bonus bet that breaks all the rules.

As the PGA Tour returns to Austin for its annual stop, the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play has brought some familiar faces back with it.

Woods said he never paid attention to the other match until his was almost over because "I needed to take care of my own match".

It was only worth a half-point from a match in which he never led, and it's just one out of three matches in group play.

Jim Furyk rallied past Day 2up, Thomas was stunned 3 and 2 by Dane Lucas Bjerregaard and Kevin Na edged Watson 1up. He made a 6-foot birdie to match Horschel and send it to the 18th, and he lofted a wedge to 2 feet for birdie to win the 18th. The last time they squared off was in the final round past year at the Tour Championship, where Woods capped off his comeback season with a victory. Enough to whet the Augusta appetite for 16 or 17 or 18 holes as we think about what a Masters win would mean for each of these golfers. Watson had lost his opening match to Kevin Na on the final hole when he failed to get out a greenside bunker and snatched his ball while it was still moving to concede the match.

"I guess I'm not really upset with anything right this second, " Furyk said.
