Francesco Molinari fired a flawless six-under par 66 on Saturday, seizing a two stroke lead over Tiger Woods and Tony Finau in a thrilling Masters third round at Augusta National.

Molinari, the British Open champion who has shown he belongs among the elite in golf, had a 67 and was the first to reach 7-under 137. He gave one shot back with a bogey at No. 9 to finish with at 1-under par for the front nine. "So nice to keep another clean scorecard".

Molinari, the first Italian to win a major with his victory at last year's British Open, will start in pole position to claim a Green Jacket to go along with his Claret Jug.

Teamed with Tommy Fleetwood, Molinari beat Woods no matter whether he was paired with Patrick Reed (3&1, 4&3) or Bryson DeChambeau (5&4).

Finau, who started the day four shots back of the co-leaders, got off to a scorching start on Saturday, opening with three consecutive birdies.

Then, with Olympic champion Michael Phelps standing behind him on the tee at the par-3 16th, Woods wrapped things up by sticking an 8-iron within 2 feet of the cup for another birdie and a two-stroke lead.

I liked his post-round interview, where he said that he was just going to do what he can do and was calm about everything. Let's just hope the weather holds.

Julian Assange's Lawyers Vow to Fight His Extradition to the United States
Sweden, meanwhile, has tapped prosecutor Eva-Marie Persson to look into whether the reopening of the rape inquiry can be pursued. In a statement on Friday, Assange's legal time said that United States prosecutors have 65 days to submit a full set of charges.

Another birdie at the sixth was followed by an eagle at eight, where his second shot left him a tap-in. "I felt good", said Finau. He hasn't finished higher than 30th this season, and Spieth is tied for 22nd.

Woods, a 14-time major victor seeking his first major crown since the 2008 US Open, had six birdies against a lone bogey to roars of delight from the crown at Augusta National Golf Club.

"It's been a while since I've been in contention here", Woods said. And clean up his play on the par-5s, which have seen him make just three birdies and a bogey and go 2 under on them through two rounds. Numerous players have aimed driver safely down the right side of the fairway, others have hit three-wood.

"He (Woods) obviously loves this place and he's playing great golf", said Molinari. "I think how I hit the ball tomorrow will help my comfort a lot more than thinking about Carnoustie".

World number two Dustin Johnson was two-under through 11, US Open champion Brooks Koepka was two-under through 10 and three-time Masters victor Phil Mickelson was two-under through nine.

Webb Simpson, who also shot 64, joined Ian Poulter (68) at 9-under 207, four shots behind and very much in the picture.

Woods was impressive during a 67 that left him tied second at 11 under alongside American Tony Finau, who carded an equal day's best 64, while three-time major victor Brooks Koepka (69) is fourth at 10 under.
