Ben Simmons' 76ers throttle Raptors in National Basketball Association

And now, after seeing Leonard put up 45 points in Toronto's 108-95 victory in Game 1 of this series, it's up to Brown to figure out how to slow that superstar when the series resumes with Game 2 on the Raptors' home floor Monday night.

Sixers All-Star Joel Embiid broke out of his career struggles against Raptors big man Marc Gasol by dropping 33 points, 10 rebounds, and he blocked five shots to lead the Sixers to the win.

J.J. Redick led Philadelphia with 17 points in Game 1; Leonard and fellow starting forward Pascal Siakam both had 17 points for Toronto by the end of the first quarter. Toronto got the ball back, and Siakam scored on a layup to make it a one-point game, but Joel Embiid answered with a driving shot at the other end, restoring the three-point advantage with 24 seconds left.

"We got thoroughly out-played and it's been a while since you've seen this team play this way", said Raptors Coach Nick Nurse. Embiid made both of his free throws to push the lead to 14. The Raptors have allowed fewer than 100 points in six straight playoff games and that trend continues tonight at Wells Fargo in Philly.

Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said his team took control of the game in the fourth quarter after they made a decision to "blitz" Leonard with multiple defenders rather than Simmons predominantly guarding Toronto's star.

Kawhi Leonard let out a deep sigh and rubbed his eyes before facing the press after the Toronto Raptors embarrassed themselves in Game 3.

The Sixers were grateful with a series split against the Raptors after suffering a losing streak in Toronto that dated to 2012.

"We had to go out and blitz him". "If we don't do that then the prettiest things we decide to do offensively won't matter much". "I was trying to get out of the game before it got to that point".

The Red Devils are back in action on Sunday afternoon against Huddersfield in the Premier League. But I'm sure we won't see him any more this season unfortunately. "We support each other".

Another said: "A 7'2" Center really did a windmill in a game.

Brown said Leonard's "individual offensive brilliance is daunting, haunting, pick whatever words you want to say". I've got to help him on the floor.

He hasn't, though, been in this place when playing alongside Leonard, whom Toronto specifically traded for to try lifting the Raptors to places they have never been.

It was no surprise the Sixers would come out a different team than the one the Raptors ran roughshod over in Game 1. The best three-point shooting team in the league hit just three of their 15 shots from behind the arc. Lowry, who finished with seven points on 2-for-10 shooting and was a game-worst minus-28 in 38 minutes, declared that the Raptors have to help Leonard out - him especially.

Not that the windmill dunk - preceded by a catch at the 3-point line and a hard drive down the lane - that sent the Philadelphia crowd into a tizzy when it put the Sixers up 110-84 halfway through the fourth quarter didn't deserve to be mentioned.

But the Raptors clawed their way back into contention, cutting their deficit to just one point in the third period and again with 46.7 seconds remaining in the fourth. We've all got to help him.

Brown praised the maturity of Butler's performance in his post-game remarks.

Siakam's flagrant came after Philadelphia's Ben Simmons elbowed Toronto's Kyle Lowry in the groin in the second quarter of Game 3. Philly took a 64-53 lead into the halftime break.
