Constance Wu Tweets Profane Disappointment On ‘Fresh Off The Boat’ Renewal

Lydia FlemingMay 12, 2019

Constance Wu is now changing her tune regarding Fresh Off the Boat's renewal.

The above five shows now join the previously-renewed "Grey's Anatomy", "Station 19", "How to Get Away with Murder", "Black-ish", "The Good Doctor", "Modern Family", "A Million Little Things", and "The Conners" on ABC's 2019-20 schedule. But her posts after the show's renewal brought out old references from past stars like David Caruso and Katherine Heigl who spoke out like this and were sent to actor jail. Although Wu has starred on the show since 2015, when it made its debut, she was far from pleased about the show's return. And they were correct.

On Saturday the actress posted a lengthy message on Twitter titled "These words are my truth". "So my dismayed social media replies were more about that other project not about 'FOTB'". "I've gotten to fully explore my character and I know her like the back of my hand".

She followed up that tweet with another explaining her reaction. "People "assumed" that that meant I don't love and enjoy FOTB".

As Wu received a mix of both shocked and supportive responses, including some speculating that the renewal may impede her blossoming film career, she tweeted that she wasn't on "a rampage", just that she frequently uses that expletive. I hope you believe me.

Adam Wexler: How do Rockets force a Game 7 vs Warriors?
He's shooting an insane 42 percent from three-point range, 56 percent from the field, and 90.1 percent from the free-throw line. Curry must re-emerge as the alpha scorer and lead playmaker, running more pick-and-rolls and taking on a heavier shot load.

When ABC announced the renewal Friday, Wu said in a series of tweets that it was not welcome news.

"Saying "dislike" to this news is a slap in the face to everyone who works behind the scenes to make your show as powerful and groundbreaking as it truly is".

Friday evening, she tried to clarify her remarks, tweeting that the F-bombs were "just how I normally talk" and people were "making a lot of assumptions" about what her tweets meant.

"Todays tweets were on the heels of rough day&were ill timed w/the news of the show (sic)", she posted on Twitter on Friday.

After appearing in several films and making one-off appearances on series such as Torchwood and Franklin & Bash, Wu landed a lead role in Fresh Off the Boat, which is the first successful US comedy series to feature an Asian-American family.
